The whole house fits in the frame and the walls are visible end to end. Taken from the corner, so two facades show at once.

Not like this
Close up, all that shows is a piece of board. The tool cannot show the house in a new colour if the house is not in the picture.
- Step far enough back Back up until the whole house fits in the frame, plinth to eaves. A few steps backwards improve the result more than anything else.
- Shoot from the corner Stand towards a corner rather than square in front of a wall. Two facades then show, and the colour is seen in light and in shade at once.
- Shoot in daylight An overcast day is best. Keep the sun behind you: shooting into it leaves the wall dark and the shade does not read.
- Shoot from eye level Not from above and not from the ground looking up. A level view gives the colour its true impression.
Avoid these
- Bushes, cars or bicycles in front of the wall.
- Dusk, rain, and hard tree shadows falling across the wall.
- Snow covering the plinth and the bottom of the wall.
- A picture with several houses in it: the tool paints all of them.
Choose the finish
Pick the paint type first and the shade after it. The palette changes with the finish.
Choose the facade colour
The shades are indicative. A screen cannot reproduce a painted surface, and the same shade looks different in different light, the final choice is made from a colour card and preferably from a test patch.

Choose as many as you like, or skip this. These are painted in the trim colour unless stated otherwise.
Colour of the trim and surrounds
Window and door surrounds, corner boards and end boards. A pale trim gives a house its lines; the same shade as the wall calms it down.
